The Smart SPACE platform is a physical and digital environment, a new world populated by surgeons and enabled by technology developed to provide surgeons with pre-operative and intra-operative surgical management supports.
This innovative solution aims at supporting surgeons to deliver the most appropriate patient-specific care and to improve their clinical outcomes, by delivering performance and precision. Smart SPACE can be considered as a Technology Platform, because in the future it will be capable of supporting multiple applications: Shoulder, Hip and Knee. The shoulder planner application is already available in the market.

Smart SPACE Shoulder is composed by:
Virtual 3D Planner: CT-Scan based, the Planner allows surgeons to perform a pre-operative evaluation of the clinical case thanks to the auto-segmentation.
3D Positioners: the patient specific guides allow execution of the pre-operative plan. Two options will be available: Glenoid 3D Positioner and Humerus 3D Positioner.
Cubit-Based Guidance: Cubit allows surgeons to navigate the preparation and positioning of components, thanks to miniaturized sensors, without changing the surgical steps and the set-up of the operating room.

SpaceFlex Shoulder offers innovative features for shoulder spacers, such as a metal inner core for improved resistance, and holes for potential suturing of cuff muscles. The bone cement pressurization which develops into the moulds ensures a smooth contact surface of the humeral head. The semi-transparent moulds and insertion channel ensure a visual control of the bone cement injection. SpaceFlex also avoids cement leakage during injection.

The DiPHOS Nail is indicated for fractures, fracture dislocations and non-unions of the proximal and distal humerus.
The innovative polymeric material CFR PEEK creates an effective anti-pullout system for proximal screws. Moreover, no galvanic corrosion phenomena can occur between screws and nail, enabling an easy removal. DIPHOS NAIL allows for multiple configurations of screw positioning. The screw is completely dedicated to the stabilization of Greater Tuberosity.

The DiPHOS H humeral plate is indicated for fractures, fracture dislocations and non-unions of the proximal humerus.
The innovative material CFR PEEK 30% allows the intraoperative control of the fracture reduction and a better visualization of the post-operation healing process. Moreover, this material ensures no galvanic corrosion phenomena can occur between screws and plate, allowing for an easy removal. The proximal holes allow the insertion of the angular stability screws with a free orientation of +/-15°.

LimaCorporate embraced additive manufacturing of Titanium parts at the beginning of EBM printer development. Proprietary manufacturing, cleaning and inspection techniques have been developed to provide the same confidence in the quality for these complex solutions as Lima customers have come to expect over the 75 years of LimaCorporate history.

The ProMade solutions are driven by the design pillars of: Confidence in Primary Stability, Longevity through Natural Load Transfer, and a Fully planned Biomechanical Restoration. With these design pillars setting the foundation of the solutions developed, the extensive surgeon / engineer collaboration and the associated collaborative intelligence continue to advance solutions. For example, to reduce the associated morbidity related to the dissection for large flanges and screws of “classic triflange” designs the number and sizes of the flanges and number of screws in acetabular solutions have been reduced. In one example, the flanges were reduced in size and and number. The number of screws required were reduced from 13 to 8. In addition, the use of Trabecular Titanium has been expanded to allow more Natural Load Transfer and associated bone health. The same example, going from 7% of total volume to 30% of total volume.
